About us

THE ORIGINS OF THE COMPANY

Lanificio Carlo Barbera was founded in 1949 by Mr Carlo Barbera, a distinguished gentleman with a penchant for fashion and luxury Italian lifestyle. His ambition was to create a company that would produce and export the finest Italian fabrics of unparalleled quality and style all over the world.

A STRATEGIC LOCATION

Having a good location is key to Lanificio Carlo Barbera.
Biella provides an optimal geographical position, aligned with organization’s needs and objectives. This allows the wool mill to maximize opportunity while minimising costs and risks.

Biella is a small town at the foothills of the Alps in the Piedmont region.

Biella is an historical location, renowned for its wool processing and textile mills since the 1800’s. Thanks to its natural environment, rich in springs and lakes fed by the glaciers, Biella has provided an optimal habitat for textile industries throughout the years. This created centuries-long craftsmanship of local workers with a vast knowledge in textile production which was handed down through generations.

When Lanifcio Carlo Barbera relocated to a larger building in Pettinengo in 2019, its management put the inestimable value of its employees first: It made sure to preserve all their skills and know- how by moving to a new headquarter in close proximity to the older company, in order not to loose it’s staff. This was an excellent example of corporate social responsibility.
